A Cape Coral siblings competitive biking duo, with a combined 22 years of age,
are taking a summer trip and going international with their racing. Brady and Avery Jones
have qualified for the World BMX Championships in Heusden-Zolder, Belgium, on July 21-28.
The travel and competition will open up a new experience for Joneses, but with their strong stateside resume intact, they will not shudder racing in Belgium against BMX racers from all over the world.
The siblings, ages 10 and 12 respectively, qualified for Team USA following the final qualifying in Oldsmar in February. The two will join 14 other boys and girls on the team.
Dad Nick Jones, a detective with the Cape Coral Police Department, has mentored his kids while learning the sport at the Strausser BMX Sports Complex.
“This will be their first international racing opportunity and both have been working at fundraising since their selection, with a lot of additional costs like special travel bags for their bicycles,” Jones said.
